Clean Energy Access for All: Healthy Homes, Healthy Communities

My name is Franciel Branch and I’ve lived in this house for 53 years. I’ve been in East Palo Alto for 54 years. I am a widow
for 14 years and I have two sons — one lives in Las Vegas and one in East Palo
Alto. I am on a fixed income and you know, I need help from the different
organizations and I’ve received help. The original problem was the furnace. We
didn’t have a furnace for a whole year and I went to a meeting for solar and I
met Violet and she was telling me about the different organizations that would
help me if I was low income and I did qualify for for most of — for
everything that they had to offer. I did qualify to get the solar but the roof was no good
so Habitat for Humanity came and they put in the roof, so then I was able to
get the the solar and it’s going to be put on on July 31st. Solar panels are
going to decrease my energy bill by eighty five percent. For all the
work that’s done, I’ve been very happy and I’ve been telling everybody how
wonderful the organizations are and what they’re doing for me, and if you
qualify they would do the same for you, and I’m just overjoyed because I’ve
saved so much money- because I wasn’t able, with me being on a fixed income
it was no way that I could buy all the things that I’ve had taken care
of here for the last couple of months. So I’m very thankful and feel
very blessed to have all this done.
