Are resumes still used in the modern job search? Kerri Twigg

Hey this is video two for 30 days of resume. The question was asked by William, and he asked if I’m finding that resumes are even needed anymore when job searching has changed. My answer to that is resumes are still a really important a necessary part of job search. So, some… the only time I’ve had clients land without a resume has been in start-up, or sometimes in tech companies. There was one other guy, he was a CNC operator he just walked into the building and asked to speak to the supervisor. The supervisor was right on the floor and he just went I know how to work this machine. That was the only time, otherwise, everyone has landed with a resume. It shouldn’t be your only method. Thinking that you are going to land just with a resume is a little bit of an outdated idea. A multi-prong. But having a great just a document, having some achievements professionally put on a piece of paper can help you. And it gives you something to give someone to back up your skills. Some places that are conventional workplaces like, universities, government, Like insurance, financial, a lot of those places have HR policies where they actually have to have a written document with all of your skills on it. So you need a resume there. There’s different types of resumes you can use. You might have a networking resume, a one pager just with your highlights. And that might work for you. If you aren’t in a super formal position. In this day and age, still need a resume. You can’t get away from them. Looking forward to answering another question tomorrow. Thanks for watching.
